Moveon.org has launched a massive recruiting and training program across the country to prepare for a “99% Spring in America”. Here is a link to several videos, including Van Jones being interviewed by Chris Hayes on MSNBC.
They are enlisting disaffected Americans to join together to take on the wealthiest 1% in the name of social and economic justice, stating “You could be a part of a huge wave of progressive direct action this spring. Learn how to practice nonviolence in the spirit of Gandhi and Martin Luther King Jr. at a 99% Spring action training.” The email continues, “We’re coming together from every corner of our movement to provide in-depth direct action training to 100,000 people from April 9 to 15. The goal is to pave the way for a 99% Spring filled with a huge wave of progressive direct action nationwide.”
They will be staging rallies across the country on Tax Day to demand that the 1% pay their fair share and plan on gathering en masse at shareholder meetings of several Wall Street banks, confronting “dirty energy polluters, and corporations that refuse to treat workers fairly”.
With unemployment continuing at record highs, the environment is ripe for Progressive mischief. But there is a deeper issue here that needs to be addressed.
Why are so many of our youth becoming involved with this movement?
We have a generation of young adults who have attended colleges and universities where the liberal dogma flows from the mouths of self-aggrandized aging hippies who never stepped a foot outside the halls of higher education. These sixty-somethings protested the Vietnam War while hiding in undergraduate and post-graduate academia enjoying their 2-S draft exemption or fighting for abortion rights for women.
In his book The Naked Communist, originally published in 1958, W. Cleon Skousen listed the then “Current Communist Goals”. Goal number 17 states: “Get control of the schools. Use them as transmission belts for socialism and current communist propaganda. Soften the curriculum. Get control of teacher’s associations. Put the party line in textbooks.” He lists additional goals of: breaking down cultural standards of morality; present aberrant sexual behavior as normal, natural and healthy; discredit the Bible and eliminate prayer in schools; discredit the U. S. Constitution and the Founding Fathers; discredit the family as a valued institution and; encourage children to be raised separate and apart from negative parental influence. Does any of this sound familiar?
As an adult returning to college it has become apparent that many of the young adults of today have been psychologically and socially influenced by our educational system and the media. The environmentalists have them convinced that the planet is doomed. They are repeatedly told that humankind (that is the required verbiage) has destroyed the earth and there is little hope that it can be saved. Perhaps this is why we are seeing so many of our youth into tattoos, piercings, drugs, promiscuous sex and other self-destructive activities. They have no hope for their future and are ripe for the picking. They will follow anyone who promises an easy path for them. There have been no demands made on them for personal responsibility and accountability as they pursue their bachelor’s degrees in “bitterness studies”. And they wonder why they cannot get a job! They have been protected from failure to prevent them suffering from low self-esteem, but in the end, they have NO self-esteem and have never been able to discover what makes them unique…what special talents God has given them. They have all been told they are special and expect an easy path to a six-figure career. No wonder they have attached to the Occupy movement, they have not been properly prepared to enter the adult world of business and having to pay their dues as they climb that corporate ladder.
The current liberal arts curriculum depicts America as a racist, class-driven society that must bow to the rest of the world for the sins of their fathers and distribute its wealth through economic, environmental and social justice.
From an early age our children are encouraged to become good “global citizens” where morality is relative. Other cultures, although different, can also be right. There is no good or evil. There is no one singular truth and the concept of individuals possessing inherent rights and freedoms that come from our humanity is outdated and not discussed without mockery and ridicule. They are told they are no more valuable than the other animals or plants on the planet. Is it any wonder we have seen photos of a young Occupier defecating on the American flag?
We must challenge our school systems and demand that our children are taught American history, along with returning to the basics. Our schools should not be social laboratories, and educators must be held accountable for providing our children with the necessary tools to compete in an ever expanding global market.
Hitler has been quoted as stating “He alone, who owns the youth, gains the future”.
In order to save this country, we must start by reclaiming our children.
