It’s a no-brainer!

Politics/National Debt

Speaking at last evening’s Hillsborough County Republican Party Lincoln Day Dinner; Governor Rick Scott told the crowd of nearly 450 Republicans that we must elect someone who understands that business creates jobs, not government.  Florida will not be able to grow without changing the crippling hold that the federal government has on the states through regulatory agencies such as the Environmental Protection Agency, Department of Energy and the Department of Education, and the looming Obamacare. Florida has spearheaded the fight involving 27 states, with the Supreme Court expected to rule on the bill’s constitutionality this week.

Since taking office, the unemployment rate in Florida has fallen 2.3 points, to a rate of 8.6%, as revealed in last month’s report. Governor Scott responded to this report “It is clear that the work we have done to lower the cost of doing business in our state by cutting taxes and reducing regulation is giving the private sector the confidence it needs to expand, grow and add jobs.  Florida’s continued steady decline in unemployment shows that Florida is on the right track.”

Although his skills as an orator are not slick and refined, Governor Scott stated simply and clearly “It’s a no-brainer!  We have got to make this a successful 2012!”

Hillsborough County, and the City of Tampa, will be host to the 2012 Republican National Convention in August.

State Attorney Mark Ober proved an excellent Master of Ceremonies for the evening, as he introduced speakers: Governor Rick Scott, Agriculture Commissioner Adam Putman, RNC Co-Chair Sharon Day, Rep. Rachel Burgin, who sang the National Anthem, and Congressman Tom Rooney.  An auction was held where Representatives Gus Bilirakis, Dennis Ross and Tom Rooney offered personal tours of the halls of Congress and a meeting with the Speaker of the House, John Boehner.

Hillsborough County has been rated the #1 county in the nation that Governor Mitt Romney must win!  To see how you can get involved and further support the party in this election, visit the Hillsborough County Republican Party site here.
