Mamas, Don’t Let Your Babies Grow Up To Be Socialists

Politics/National Debt

If it wasn’t obvious before, the Iowa caucuses should alarm Americans as we saw avowed socialist Bernie Sanders (D-VT) in a virtual tie with heir apparent Hillary Clinton on the Democratic ticket. And then Tuesday’s landslide victory for Sanders in the New Hampshire caucuses proves he’s a force to be reckoned with. How have we as a nation gotten so off track from our founding principles and beliefs? Post caucus reports revealed 84% of millennials voted for Sanders. They have no idea what socialism is. They support him because of his promises of free medical care, free college, free everything… and the greedy billionaires will be forced to pay their fair share to pay for it all. These young adults have been indoctrinated with this progressive agenda since kindergarten.

Readers who regularly listen to Rush Limbaugh or Mark Levin hear them comment on the liberal indoctrination in our colleges and universities. They are not exaggerating. Returning to college to complete my bachelor’s degree after many years opened my eyes to the indoctrination and the methodology used. Our youth are taught the American Dream is a myth and is impossible for them to achieve. They are taught the earth has been destroyed and our days are numbered. No wonder they wish to live out their lives without having to be responsible and productive adults. They do not believe they have any future.

We need to challenge the emotional appeal of the progressives for a big government solution to all of our problems. We should explain Bernie Sander’s utopian vision of free stuff for all means collecting more taxes from everyone, not just the wealthy. Explain that the money they earn from their own labor should be theirs to keep and not redistributed to others based on emotional appeals to social, environmental or economic justice. Introduce them to the conservative values that have made our country the greatest country in the history of humankind.

Recently Senator Ben Sasse (R-Neb) was questioned on MSNBC about how he defined conservatism. His succinct definition in the video below should be shown in every school room and every home to remind us, and explain to our children, what has made America so exceptional. It is a great start to what should be a continuing discussion and dialogue with our children and young adults. We cannot trust and leave it to the public school system alone to teach them the values and founding concepts of our great country. They need to hear it from us.
